Notes about the restoration project

This restoration was carried out on a rare and very precious material: the Savoy Inventories of the Quirinale Carriages (19th and 20th century). This image gallery shows only some of the volumes and images relating to the blankets. In reality the books also showed a lot of damage internally.

Modern and contemporary materials represent a real challenge in the field of book and archival restoration, because they are normally very fragile and delicate: paper supports, binding materials, adhesives, inks and other graphic media, pst (pressure sensitive tape).

A great deal of expertise and a delicate approach are required in the execution of the various operations, taking into account all the original characteristics of the artefacts, with the goal of fully respecting the cultural heritage.
